Vera Dyatel (number 23)
I received a text message at 5:00 am this morning from Vera Dyatel telling me that despite other attractive offers she decided to stay at Zvezda.
You can’t imagine my excitement!
Since Vera helped Zvezda reach the UEFA Champions League final last season, she has been followed by a number of clubs including Swedish club LdB FC Malmö which made her a very attractive offer. For the past 3 weeks I have been awaiting her final decision all along telling her about our plans, our targets and her role in the team for 2010.
Her decision clarifies a number of issues that Stanislav Kharitonov and I faced in building the squad for next season.
Dyatel is my type of a player. She is comfortable with both feet, very quick, relentless worker, can score and create, defends and she competes for 90 minutes; a player I am heavily counting on in helping us achieve our future goals.
As I am looking to identify and sign players with ambition and who are looking for new and exciting challenges, her commitment to the club demonstrates her belief in our vision.
